Certainly. If you have the aptitude and/or skills and/or training you can apply to work at that nursing home. You will get paid as the other employees do, and you will not only take care of Mom but of other residents as well.
My mother's nh roommate had a granddaughter working in that NH. She often worked on that floor and helped take care of her grandmother. And on days she was working elsewhere in the building she'd stop by on some of her breaks and chat with her grandma a bit.
So I see no reason that you couldn't work at the nursing home where your mother is, and get paid, and have benefits. You'd have to be willing to be a regular employee and take care of other residents as well.
Sometimes people in a care center have an attendant of some kind hired just to help care for them. It takes a fair amount of wealth (or excellent insurance policies) to do that, though. It doesn't sound like your mom would be in a position to do that.
Blue, majority of grown children do not get paid for caring for their parent. As for being paid to care for your Mom while she is in a nursing home could only come from your Mom's own funds.
Find your local Medicaid office and start the application process. It takes a while. You'll be assigned a caseworker and the caseworker will let you know what documents of your mom's you'll need to provide for the application.
