How to get help with financing a stair lift for my elderly mother?

Don't want to put my Mom in a nursing home so want her to live with me but I have stairs to get into the house and she needs help getting up the stairs.

Are the steps outside, directly up to the house, or are the stairs in the garage? It will make a difference as exterior stairs with a lift would require protection from the elements.

If your mother is the wife or widow of a veteran and is getting help from the VA, check their website for home loans and funding for assistive devices and other improvements.

Habitat for Humanity helps provide adaptations for houses, done with volunteer labor.

Check with your local building inspector. Often they know where to find funding for lifts or ramps.

The very first thing you do is to find a chair lift company that has a lift for your Mom to try. She may love it, or be terrified of it.
