Any recommendations for short audio books or stories for seniors?

Mom has been more awake lately and it breaks my heart to see her sitting staring off into space. I play music for her but wondered if she might enjoy listening to something else (TV is out because she can't see to follow along). All I can come up with that doesn't involve sex, violence and vampires are the Chicken Soup books. Anybody have other ideas??
