Is transportation available to and from physical therapy?

I am having total hip replacement and won't be able to drive. I have medicare and full medicaid. Is transportation available to and from physical therapy? I am having total hip replacement and won't be able to drive for 6 weeks.

I did the rehab for ten days. Absolutely the right way to go, because when I got home things were not easy to do and I was alone. I got PT six days a week, which accelerated my recovery time.

Babalou makes a good suggestion. You might also find it easier for total care, as recovering from surgery if you live alone and don't have any help would be challenging.

I don't know if Flint has a public transportation system, but if it does, contact them. Ask about paratransit or small bus point to point services. They're a lot cheaper than ambulettes or cabs.

Have you considered going to a facility for rehab? It might be a better option.

Scooter, be sure and ask them to find out for you in advance if you do not have a driver. You might be expected to pay cab fares. Medicaid does do transportation for kids in our state, and probably does for adults in most. My hubby did not even get much formal PT post op for his hip, until things just were not coming along as expected. He was supposed to do a home program and well, just sort of did it sometimes when I nagged most effectively.
