Why is it so hard to get a general price for a studio?

Ican, when you are looking for Assisted Living places, one way to figure out affordability is to get in touch with 'a place for mom". If you tell them what you're looking for and what your price range is, they will steer you to the right places. Yes, they make a commission.

Yes, prices can be very flexible depending on how desperate they are to fill a room, it's kind of like airline tickets, some people are paying twice as much for the same flight.

I assume you are looking in Assisted Living, the cost for a unit sometimes is based on supply and demand. If there is a waiting list, then the Rep isn't in a selling mode unless you wish to put down a check to be on a waiting list.

Example, my Dad got a really good deal on an Independent Living apartment because it was in January, it was snowy, and there were no takers. Dad didn't know if he wanted the unit so to seal the deal the Rep gave Dad a nice discount on the monthly rent, good for one year. Now the Rep wasn't a real estate agent but an employee of the complex.
