My mother is in a nursing home with a broken leg. She has Parkinson's and her good leg has a drop foot. Medicare wants to send her home.

Her doctors all say she should stay. What kind of verbiage should I use to make sure she stays where she is?

What do tors? The therapists at rehab are generally the ones who help you with this stuff.

Also, Google a recent article in the NY Times science section about a change in Medicare rules about qualificattions for continuing rehab.

Do you mean Medicaid instead of Medicare?

Who is "they"?

CBFisher Sep 2016
Actually I did file an appeal last week and won. They would not tell me how many days more she gets. They suggested I get ready to file another appeal soon. Mom has a broken leg, Parkinson, and left drop foot. She is not out of days with Medicare. She can not put weight on her leg at all. Medicare keeps saying she has progressed as far as she can. Her doctors all want her to stay in Nursing home until completely healed.

The nursing home files the appeal, not you.

Do you mean that she has run out of rehab days, or is she not making progress? Or does she need to stay in the nursing home because she needs long term care?
