Please, for any assist system, get the recommendation of an Occupational Therapist for proper and professional installation. The average homeowner will not properly anchor the system and the patient will fall .
My Dad had a small side rail on his bed that he used to help himself get out of bed. He said it had worked great.
This side rail wasn't very expensive, but a real bear to install as "some assembly required" then on have to slide between the mattress and box spring to anchor it on the other side of the bed and back.
Found this product at a local Mom & Dad type pharmacy, the type of store that sells all types of health equipment and supplies.
It depends on what you are looking for. There are inexpensive grab bar type bed rails that are held in place by the mattress (google bed assist rails), all the way up to complex systems like Friendly Beds (featured on this site).
