My mom has Medicare, and long term care. Mom has Medicaid and gets certain hours of caregiving. I live with her the daughter. I know the state allows a few hours for me with pay but my question is can I use all the hours with her companion care company because I am also a HHA? Wondering if that would upset Medicaid and they would take her hours away. Thank you

Most IHHS have it set up so that once the elder is approved for in home care, the at home family caregiver is paid by the state based on the pre-approved # of hours at whatever minimum wage is. So it can vary.
But LTC insurance usually requires the coming to the home caregiver to be provided from a licensed, insured & bonded freestanding business but does not pay family as caregivers. The wrench in this for you is that you might get around this as you are a HHA, which I'm guessing means you are certified & registered /licensed home health ade for caregiving so maybe you can get paid both from the LTC insurance & medicaid assuming they both are aware of the other. Insurance companies are loath to pay for a service if there is another payor
