To become a caregiver for your parents you just jump in and help anyway you can. If you find doing all the work overwhelming, then you call in a private paid caregiver to help out, with your parents paying for this service.
If you current work full-time, do whatever you can not to quit your job, as you need that money, social security/Medicare payroll deduction for when you retire.
Also contact your local Agency on Aging and see what programs are available to help you and your parents.
