Does it make a difference to use skim milk vs 1% milk for my husband who had a stroke?
My husband has beginning of heart failure and had a stroke. He eats cold cereal every morning. I'm guessing half a cup. Should I switch him to skim milk? Does it really make that much difference? That's the only time he drinks milk.
With heart failure, you limit sodium intake. The lowest sodium is whole milk at about 98 mg/cup. The highest is skim at 128 mg/cup. So avoid skim. Soy milk is even higher at 135mg/cup.
