Can my mom use assets from the sale of her home out of state to invest in another house?

and with her children who are her caretakers?

Mom currently lives with us in a 2 story house we converted dining room into her bedroom as she can't do stairs. Can she use assets from sale of her home in Floridato invest in ranch house with us where she will live,with us and we continue to be her caregivers.
