When I signed my mother into a assisted living center they asked if I can sign for her and asked if I was POA. I signed. I took her out and moved her home, the care was atrocious. She wore dirty clothes and always had poop on her shoes tops and bottom so she was stepping in in the bathroom. So I took her out and brought her home, they have since filed a judgement against my mom and ME for her balance there. They told me I was a included in judgment because I signed that I was responsible for her. Can they do that?

I remember when my Mom needed to live in long-term-care, there was a ton of paperwork I needed to sign as POA.... the Admin told me to make sure I signed as POA for __________. I was glad the Admin told me because I was so overwhelmed that I couldn't think straight.
Hope everything works out in your favor.

Yes I just signed my name I didn't know and they never told me by signing I would be responsible for her bill.
I only sign POA on her checks when I pay her bills.
Even though your mom had to leave she still owes for the time she was there, why has SHE not paid? Did you not understand the costs involved when she moved in?
