Has anyone dealt with someone with Alzheimer's who rips out his pockets on their coat?

My husband has ruin 5 jackets this year, by ripping out the pockets and pulling the linning out.

We can not begin to guess what is going through the mind of some one with dementia so all we can do is take proactive action as has been suggested.

My husband doesn't like material touching his throat so he cut off the top of the majority of his t-shirts. In his case devestatedinco is right about tactile sensitivity.

Is he looking for something?

Maybe sewing the pockets shut. Rmove the linings. This might have something to do with tactile sensitivity. Maybe try a heavy sweater instead? Maybe give him some large beads to pop together, or puzzles to occupy his hands. Hope this helps. Hugs
