Lots of options- including what I call a "liftchair for a toilet"- seat/armrests lift you 13" and tips you forward. Would be glad to offer suggestions on mobility problems.
The fit is the main consideration. Safety frames can be set aside when it comes time to clean. All the old-age things in the bathroom (shower chairs, safety frames, bars) can make cleaning the bathroom a royal pain.
You'll find lots of options, but when you choose keep in mind how strong your father is and also how much he weighs. Some models are sturdier than others, and it's not just that you don't want anything breaking or giving way in use (obviously!) - he'll also be more confident using a rail or a bar that feels nice and secure and doesn't wobble.
And don't forget to measure carefully around the loo to make sure a) that it'll fit and b) that the frame won't make it impossible to clean up or for your parents to reach anything they need.
Something you can consider is a safety frame that sets on the toilet. It has a raised seat and arms to push up on. My mother has a safety frames with four legs -- it looks like a bedside potty that sets over the toilet. It works well with her. You can get them at any medical equipment site or on Amazon.
Thank you for responding. My father takes exercise class 2x week and practices getting up and down from chair. My mom is the one who thinks he could use assistant in bathroom. Do toilet risers come in different sizes or is it one size fits all? Thanks!
Get him a raised toilet seat. You can order them online. Also, put arm holds/bars on the toilet. Some raised toilet seats come with them or you can order them separately.
