My niece took my father's financial files without our permission. I am his POA. This is second time. What is the law?

She keeps trying to see if I am taking any money. She has taken me to court and the lawyers explained to her that no money has been taken from his funds. I have been taking care of him on my dollar for twelve years. I am tired of her mistrusting me and taking my files when I am not in the room. This is my house and she has no right to look through my own files. Is there jail time for her if I report this to someone?

Why are you using your funds to take care of your father? How much is in "his funds"? Sounds like your sister is concerned you are using her (and your, I presume) inheritance. Well, you SHOULD be -- for helping pay house expenses if he's living in your house and all of his personal expenses PLUS money to you for caregiving.

Sounds like your sister only cares about how much she will inherit. Buy a filing cabinet that you can lock and put those files in it.
