How long does it take for pension and Social Security funds to be directly deposited to a nursing home in New Jersey?
It's been several months since we directed social security and pension fund to deposit Mom's money directly to the nursing home and they still send it to her bank account so we have to write checks to the home.
I have always had moms SS check go to her bank account. It gives me control and oversight of funds. The direct withdrawal from bank to nursing home can be changed if needed. Now that funds are low and I need to keep a balance of under a certain amount for Medicaid eligibility, I prefer to write the checks to nursing home so it does not overdraw .
It should have already been depositing as of her next pay. You shouldn't have to keep writing checks since you already called Social Security, I personally wouldn't write no more checks. What you may have to do is call Social Security back and ask why her Social Security is still going into her bank account when it should be going to the nursing home. Did you call the main branch or did you call the local branch? Whichever one you didn't call yet, you'll probably want to call now. Had this been me, this is what I would do, and the payments would just have to stay in the bank account for social Security to reroute. If they put it in, they can take it right back out and reroute it to the nursing home where they should have been sending it in the first place
Are you the Representative Payee for the patient? If not, you have no authority to change deposit or address information on behalf of the patient. I don't know if you can change where the pension deposits unless you have guardianship and or financial POA.
