Mjudy, are you looking for help with your father in law, trying to find resources to place him?
I would start by calling your local Area Agency on Aging and ask for a "needs assessment". You are going to make sure to be there when this assessment happens, as they will ask the elder questions about what they can do independently. So, FIL moght state that he can heat things up in the microwave independently. You or your husband needs to be there with the actual facts of the situation.
MJudy, go online and type in area on aging orange county or whatever county you live in. You should find your local office that way. Some places I think you can just dial 211 on your phone and be directed to them. I just did this and found that some locations you can actually ask for help online. Each state or area is a little different so you need to find the one that covers the county you live in and start there. OR you can go to the top of this page and click on Find Care. Scroll down until you come to Areas on Aging and click there and it will take you to a state directory. Keep drilling down until you get to your location. I hope this helps.
