Mom has a rash for the first time from her incontinence.
I want to know the fastest way of getting on top of this besides washing area and increasing times of changing her Depends. Are there any skin barrier creams or anything else that would speed the healing? cadams
I bought my Mom Terrasil on Amazon for her pressure sores and rashes. It is expensive and started healing immediately. I too was afraid of it becoming a wound out of control but small amount does the trick.
I use baby powder and triple paste on a regular basis with my grandma but if she gets a bad skin rash or cut or anything skin related and it needs help healing, I use calmoseptine. I received my first tube from hospice when my mom was dying and they were worried about skin breakdowns. Really unless it's a bad rash medicated desitin or triple paste should heal her up nicely. Then use powder and regular desitin (it's cheaper than medicated maximum strength which does healing) to keep her rash free.
Some of the best things I use, is baby supplies. The rash cream and baby powder work wonders to get rid of rashes like that. Plus since they get dry and fragile skin very easy the lotion and baby oil work better than anything else I can find. I also use baby shampoo to wash my Grandmas hair because it's so thinned out, plus if I accidently get it in her eyes it doesn't burn. I was hesitant at first about it, but I have been using them for over a year now and she hasn't had any issue. Plus it's a lot cheaper and typically works better than the "special" ones on the market.
