Outside home care caregiver is real concern due to her fear of strangers. Gets really nasty hateful. Roams all night. Gets lost in her own house and very nervous all the time. Bleeding ulcer history makes me reluctant to seek help from unknown persons (to her). No one seems to understand the enormity of the hardship of this health issue and the need for proper help/care for families dealing with it. I do find comfort here from all of you and your posts. KimsAngel, if you live in the US your mother may be able to qualify for Medicaid to help with the cost of memory care. You can read about what you need to do to qualify and can even start the application there. It is not a simple thing. You will need all of her financial records and may be required to spend down assets to qualify. The Medicaid address online is www.medicaid.gov . Good luck! No one ever warned us that our parents would get dementia in such record numbers. Many people are in the same boat that you are.
