Welcome to the group. Could you tell us a little bit more, like how long your mother has had dementia and what she was like before? It's not unusual for someone with dementia to become irritable and abusive. It is most often directed at the people closest to them. One good thing you can do is talk to her doctor to see if there is some medication that would help. Sometimes people are irritable because they're anxious or frightened. See if you can find out the reason for her irritability.
