Will the house proceeds have to be all spent before Medicaid qualification?

It all has to be spent down to the allowable to have in her account for your state. However, you mention several sources of income that probably exceed the Medicaid allowable. Depending on your state, you might need to set up a trust. There are many ways to spend the money for your moms care. You should consider a qualified elder attorney to discuss your moms entire financial situation in order to avoid making costly mistakes. Pay for the visit from moms funds. That's allowable.

If you sell her house, then the proceeds will need to be spent down on her care before she can quality (or re-qualify) for Medicaid. The good thing about selling the home is that you won't have the maintenance, insurance, and tax payments to make for an unoccupied house. You can spend some of the money from the sale on an inexpensive funeral policy (check Medicaid restrictions) or other things she needs. What is not spent will have to be applied to her care.
