My sister has been in the hospital for 2 months due to very serious cancer and she cannot walk. She has a savings and a home. Her daughters talked to a lawyer and he said they (state) are watching her money? She will probably end up in a home and we don't want her to lose everything. If this is the 2nd email with the same questions, excuse the error, I couldn't get in the system.

I think what you are saying is that her children will not inherit her savings.

If your sister is on Medicaid [which is different from Medicare], chances are that Medicaid has already placed a lien on her house. Thus, if someone sells the house, the equity would be needed to pay for your sister's care, or used to reimburse Medicaid. Same with the saving accounts. Usually Medicaid limits how much can be in those accounts, and that would have been already discuss with your sister and her daughters. Any extra money needs to be spent on your sister, and no one else.
