I have no idea where you live, but if you live in the US, you can also check with your local township (if you have one where you live). Here outside of Chicago, a number of our townships have dental vans that charge on a sliding scale. If you tell us where you live, I'm happy to google for you and give you some resources. The Medicaid case worker can supply a list of dentists who accept Medicaid payments.
I imagine the VA office also has a list for people who use their benefits.
Otherwise look up Low Cost Dental Care on Google -- add your county. I just did for my county and found many low-cost or sliding scale or even free dental services. One source was a local school. They did routine work only, not oral surgery, etc. but might be a great choice for cleaning, a filling, an exam, etc.
