My sister has brain damage and has been dizzy lately and falling at night. What is the best way to lift her when I am on my own?

If she can help you at all there are several youtube videos if you search their site "helping someone up after a fall". Getting help is probably the best solution if she is just dead weight though.

Cheryl I hope your sister's dizziness gets sorted out very soon; but meanwhile it sounds as though you'll have to go for prevention rather than cure - can you provide her with handrails and grab bars, maybe a bedside commode if she's getting up at night to use the bathroom? Anything that might help to stop her falling in the first place.

I had dizziness (vertigo) once caused by my inner ear. I had an adjustment that was a one time visit and it worked. Went to an ENT guy. But then dizziness is one of the most common problems doctors see. So many things can cause it. Hope she gets help soon.

The police came to help me tonight. We have been going to her various doctors to find the cause to her dizziness but have been unsuccessful. Thanks for your response!

I read on this site that sometimes the fire department is called or EMTs. You could call and ask your local fire department if she fell would they come. If they say no, maybe you could ask who would come. Since you say that they dizziness is lately, should you call her doctor and report it? Perhaps there is a medical issue that should be addressed to help prevent future falls. She's lucky to have her sister.
