Can you ask for donations to go to a facility?

My mom in in hospice care and not expected to live much longer. I am wondering if when writing the obituary, is it ok to ask that any donations be to her memory care facility. Can these types of facilities accept donations? I am just so thankful for the care and compassion they have shown my mom.

To be honest here, the facility was paid a lot of money to care for Mom, I can't see donating. Now Hospice is a private agency separate from the facility. I have heard of them excepting donations. For the facility, have a luncheon for the employees.

Consider if the facility is a 'for profit' business. In that case, you might seek donations for their activities fund, an item that may be stretched for funds. How about a bench for their garden that might include a plaque noting your Mom's name. Or a bird feeder and seed to be placed near a window so residents can see the birds.

Ask the memory care facility if they have such a fund which is tax deductible. They may have a certain fund under a different name for donations.

I can fully understand why you want to do something for the memory care facility since your Mom has had such great care.
