I am my mother's caregiver 24/7 but I will need to take two weeks off. I wish to use whatever finances she has to keep her at home as long as possible. I intend to start bringing somebody in at least once a week that I can get out and do something for myself. But when I hire somebody for 24/7 for 2 weeks will that be a allowable expense. She might need to apply for Medicaid in the future.

She is also allowed to pay for her room and board and care. If you go that route, have a written caregiver agreement in place, so it is clear she is paying for something, not giving out gifts.
