I own a house with my brother, but if either of us needs to go into a nursing home, is there a document that will protect the house?

I own a house with my brother in joint tenancy. If one of us has to go into the nursing home is there a document such as a trust that will protect the whole house so hospitals/nursing homes can't file a lien. I have asked several attorneys and come up with different answers. I live in MN. Some tell me to put in trust others says do nothing but I would think this is a questions that they are asked who should I believe.

Check with a good elder care lawyer about a trust. I don't know about the Medicaid aspecs of it, but my family trust has kept everything very simple.

Katie, has anything (such as either your brother's or your health) changed since your post with a similar question? If so, what has changed?
