As a pensioner looking after my mother, can I take money to pay for her food?

Myself and my wife look after my mother and I have the full power of attorney (registered) we find it difficult to make ends meet on state pension can we take out of my mothers account to pay for food she actually devours every day with no recollection of her last meal.
