My husband had a major surgery and cannot work. Can I get paid for doing things for him?

SSI turn him down and he needs assistant with his colonoscopy bag. The little money he gets is not enough and the money I made is not enough, he can not drive, I have to drive him back and forth to the doctor. I change his bag every two days because the doctor said it will take at least a year for him to do anything.
