How to get paid to be a caregiver for my elderly parent?

freqflyer Nov 2017
Gina, please note that the vast majority of grown children who are caregivers to their parents do not get paid.... unless the parent can afford to budget payment from their own retirement fund.

One option is Medicaid [which is different from Medicare], only if your parents qualify. Call your State Medicaid office to see what are their rules, regulations, and programs. Some States do pay a family caregiver, but the pay is very minimal.

I helped out my very aging parents [90's], who refused to move into something senior friendly, and refused to have caregivers. I was not hands-on, but was busy with all the logistical stuff. My parents did pay me gas money for all the driving I did for them.

Yes you can but I believe your parent has to live with a income under poverty level and if you are the POA THE ANSWER IS NO
