Taking care of blind and deaf mother (87). I want to retire to take care of my mom. Any advice?
I WANT TO RETIRE TO TAKE CARE OF MY MOM. SHE IS DEAF AND BLIND AND DIABETIC AND SHE JUST CAME HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL. I WORKED AND I ASK MY BOSS FOR 12 WEEKS OFF AND SHE SAID JUST GIVE ME YOUR 2 WEEK NOTICE. THAT IS NOT RIGHT.
You want to retire? Boss is probably concerned that you will not return after 12 weeks and needs to fill your position. But, no that is against the law. Go to human resources and tell them you need Family Medical Leave Act. If you have been with this employer for more than one year FMLA will apply if the number of employees in the company meets federally defined criteria.

Would your Mom be able to budget to have a 8-hour caregiver take care of her while you are at work?
