My husband, diagnosed with NPH has mild dementia which hinders him in showering, etc. I am looking for a male aide to come in for a couple of hours a day to help him, for I am finding it more and more difficult to do myself.
Does hubby specifically ask for a male aide? We had a male bath aide once and at least in this case, he wasn’t very good. You can request a male aide. We also had a male RN who I adored. When you investigate agencies, ask if they have male aides.
Sorry Countess you are asking at the wrong place, this is a forum where caregivers can exchange ideas, not an agency. You might try looking for your local agencies in the yellow pages, or searching the web for agencies in your city/region. I do know that male caregivers are in short supply everywhere, but keep an open mind, you'd be surprised at how well the women who do this can get their male clients to cooperate.
