How to be a family care giver and get some kind of financial help?
I have my mother and uncle living in Abingdon MN and they have a lot of medical needs. My niece is the one to do that but she needs to get some kind of financial help.
I think you have to call The Department of human and family services, DHFS.I believe that the elderly people have to have a income below a certain amount like 1,200 per month ....not etched in Stone...but worth checking into.Oh if you are the POA ,NO WAY YOU CAN GET PAY , but check anyway this is hearsay.
Wandad20 You can tell your niece to call her local area on aging to find out what services are available in the area where they live. She can ask them for a needs assessment of the couple and ask for a home visit. Here is a website that will list the Mn agencies http://mn4a.org/aaas/ I hope this helps.
