Does the attorney you selected to handle your mom's affairs answer your questions on how to handle unreasonable siblings?

The attorney I selected to handle mom's affairs comes with high recommendations and this is an attorney that would handle her will; but when you raise a question about how to handle an unruly and hysterical sibling, you never hear back or at all. I understand this attorney's specialization but it raises concern not hearing back. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do? He has not asked for a retainer yet but has answered questions willingly.

The only way your attorney could help is if the subs are doing something against the law. As the others have said, he’s not there to referee sibling squabbles. Make sure your siblings are informed of everything they are entitled to know, in writing. Same letter to each. Just the facts, nothing that would cause more squabbling.

I think you might find that he considers this outside his remit. And bear in mind that every time he writes to you or picks up the phone it costs you (or, rather, your mother) A LOT of money; so perhaps he's reluctant to run up an additional bill purely for telling you he can't help you there.

Can the forum help, instead? Our fees our very modest! :)

Your attorney is qualified to answer legal questions - unruly siblings are not the attorney's issue. They are yours. You can ask the attorney if you have any legal obligations to your siblings.
