As long as your mom has the funds it's money well spent. If you can sometimes pay for their trips maybe they'll be able to come more often and that's a benefit to both you and your mom. I WISH my one sister would visit my mom. I'd be happy to pay for the ticket out of my own pocket. On the other side my husband flies to see his mom in a nursing home every two to three months and the ticket is usually between $450 and $500. It would be great if his mom had funds to help pay. He'd probably visit her every month.
It sounds great to me if your mom has the funds, but if your mom needs medicaid within the next 5 years it is going to look like a gift and may incur penalties. I imagine flying in every month is going to get old for him pretty soon, you might be better off directing that money toward caregivers from a local agency.
Goodness--I would think that's more than OK. You are fortunate to have a caring, involved sibling!! Mine won't drive 3 miles to see Mother or help her, much less hop a plane.
Just my opinion - I don't see anything wrong with it. He's helping your mother, he's helping you. And he and his wife get to spend time with your and his mother.
I think it's wonderful, admirable and a credit to him and his wife that they're stepping up to help.
