My dad was active military when he died in a car accident. Does Mom qualify for in-home care as a military widow?
My Mom is a widow. Does mom qualify for in-home paid care as a military widow? She wants to live on her own- but due to early affects of Alzheimer/dementia, we feel she can not.
Sammy, after reading the applicable articles in the link FF provided, contact your local VA hospital, or local VA service reps (sometimes at a county level), or service organizations (Am. Legion, VFW), and ask about the specific programs that would help your mother.
Not to be maudlin, but was your father KIA in the car accident, or was it a civilian accident? If the former, that should be shared when your mother applies for assistance.
If she does qualify, there should be a social worker attached to the medical team assigned for her care. I've found the social workers at the VA to be very helpful, more so than many in the private sector.
