My mom is in a nursing home in Ohio. I have been her primary caregiver for many years. I am about to apply for Medicaid for her. Will I be able to keep her home on hospice?

So sorry to read that your Mom's isn't doing well. You need to check with your Mom's caseworker regarding this situation. Sounds like your Mom has been self-paid while in the nursing home, correct? But money is running out and she needs to go onto Medicaid?

Medicaid could place a lien on Mom's house to collect only the amount of the cost of her care, once the care starts. There are exceptions, you would need to check with the caseworker or Medicaid to see if you could qualify for one of the exceptions.

Do you have siblings? Does Mom have a Will saying you would get the house? If there is no Will and you have siblings, then a Probate Judge would need to step in to make distribution according to State laws. You can plead your case that you were Mom's caregivers for many years.
