VA Aid and Assistance, if paying a family member how do you file the taxes?
Hello, today we started the process to receive VA benefits for mom. I will be set up to be paid with her aid and assistance and wondered about how I file this as income and pay all the taxes, medicare and ss?
This is something I would ask an accountant about, or contact the VA and see if you can find something who can advise you.
I assume you know that the Aide and Attendance (as well as other VA benefits) are not taxable to the person?
So you would be receiving payment from someone receiving funds that are nontaxable. This is why I'd get some good solid advice from a professional experienced with caregivers being paid by someone receiving VA funds.
