Rebekah, the vast majority of family caregivers are not paid for taking care of a love one.... unless the love one can pay you from the own savings account.
Now there are exceptions, such as maybe your State Medicaid office [which is different from Medicare] might have a program where you can be paid, but note the pay would be limited with no benefits. And for how long that program might be is anyone's guess because of the new Tax Reform bill :( But it would be worth a call.
