I work long hours at the hospital, Mom was so tired yesterday when she had to get up for her caregiver at 0500..she was exhausted by the time I got home. I gave her today off to lay in bed or do what she wants. She knows I have to work tommorow and has to be up early. The caregiver is a fill in caregiver and doesn’t know her well,so I get Mom up and put her in her recliner when I have to work, so today she said can’t I just rest in bed today and I thought why not. So she has the day off to nap and rest. I asked her if she wanted to get up and she said no. A dr at the hospital told me dementia patients do need extra sleep because their brains work so hard to accomplish everyday tasks, so I’m giving her brain a day off...and mine...cause I’m exhausted. Do you think there’s anything wrong with a day in bed resting? She’s 81 with dementia eating and drinking great. Just tired. I’m a nurse and we get everyone up and moving, but I’m gonna let it slide and see if extra rest recharges her. Anyway I wish you all happy holidays and thank you for getting me through some tough situations this year...God Bless you all

And why can't the caregiver get her up after you've gone to work?
