When you feel you have hit the jackpot and found the perfect AL, how can you show your appreciation to all of the staff?
At Christmas I gave a few small gifts to the staff I deal with the most, or that deal with mom. What are some good ways to show appreciation to the whole staff that won't cost me a ton?
When I worked in the hospital, we loved any baked goods. Cut them for individual servings for "on the go". See's candy was also appreciated. Do a pizza lunch (Little Caesars or other cheap pizza) with sodas.
My mom went into a MCU in September, so at Christmas I made cookies, candy, cracker snacks and cocktail meatballs and little smokies for the staff. The staff loved everything! Also, mom broke her ankle at Thanksgiving so she is currently in the rehab center which is part of the MCU, so I made cookies for the staff there.
I am a firm believer in praise when it's deserved! You could write a letter to their Executive Director or their home office if they're part of a chain and name the names of great employees or departments or things that you appreciate. Complement them on social media like Facebook if they have a page. Send (or take) individual thank you cards to individuals. Give managers gift cards to Dunkin Donuts or places where they could buy some donuts or coffee for the employees. You could also offer to act as a reference for families considering the facility.
