When was her O2 and pulse last checked? You can check it with a oximeter that you can pick up at the pharmacy. B-12 is commonly deficient in elders as is Vit D3. You could try either or both and see if you can tell a difference. Also therapy does amazing things for anyone. My aunt (91) is taking PT and OT right now. It really helps her keep going.
Thank you for your answer regarding meds. She is lucky not to be taking anything except 1/4 Vicodin at bedtime. In her case, it’s not the meds but I’m aware that various side effects are common with all pharmaceuticals. Thanks again!
Catcoker, there are also prescription medicines that can make one feel very tired. I've run into that problem with my blood pressure pills, it took a lot of changing of doses to find the right mix. Also some antihistamines can zone a person out.
Thank you so much for responding. Yes, the inquiry was about my mother. Medical test don’t show anything definitive. I’m sure there is more than one cause for her fatigue. We all age differently, don’t we? Our 96-year-old neighbor still plays golf once or twice a week. My mom can barely get from her bed to the living room. I was diagnosed with ME/CFS in 1994 so I can relate. We’re all doing the best we can. Again, thank you for your response.
People of any age can feel exhausted and have little energy. There are many, many causes for this. A doctor can check for the obvious medical causes.
I suspect, though, that being 90 is one of legitimate causes! I certainly have way less energy at 70 than I did at 50, and I expect that isn't going to improve if I reach 90.
I see on your profile that your mother has dementia. Is that whom you are asking about? Dementia can also diminish energy and disturb sleep cycles.
A medical checkup would be worthwhile, in case there is a vitamin deficiency, a thyroid problem, etc. that could be easily fixed.
