Mom was being unruly and swinging at the aides and nurses today so they sent her over to the geriatric psych ward at the hospital! Once she got there, her legs are infected and weeping so they are admitting her for that but the emergency doctor says she’s lucid and capable of making decisions! Her regular NH doc says she’s not! She’s in and out of her dementia and of course now she’s lucid?? I still hope they get psych involved and do not ignore her behaviour or the fact that she asks for my father every 20 minutes the night before even though he’s passed! I’m scared they will say she can make her own decisions when I know she truly isn’t capable! I don’t want them to let her go home she needs to be back in the NH!

Anything that you can say or do to be an advocate for mental health care will help. Won't the regular NH doc be on board in some capacity? There should be something on her intake forms about her being "violent".
She is at the NH or does she live at home? Your post says both. I sure wouldn't want this at my home! If her legs are weeping and infected, she really should be in a NH.
