Have you seen an eldercare attorney, a certified one who specializes in Medicaid? Medicaid has no interest in impoverishing the community spouse (the one not in the NH) but sometimes a qualified income trust needs to be set up. Please seek out a highly qualified lawyer to advise on the application.
