My sister is moving from one nursing home to another tomorrow, I am not her power of attorney. Am I supposed to go sign her discharge papers?

They chose another rest home. Her nurse yelled at her and girl that worked on floor. I showed nurse picture of grandbaby and she said he was ugly and had a square head. I reported her and next day they said sis became violent. Patients on floor said nurse yelled at my sister. They chose a nursing home and said I had to sign her out of this one.

Who signed her in? And who are "they"?
Hopefully the move will be a positive one, this place doesn't sound very friendly. And no, you haven't the authority or obligation to sign anything.

How long has your sister been in this NH?
Did you sign her admission papers?
Have you talked directly with the person who is supposed to be in charge of her care plan?

Only sis or POA should sign any paperwork.

Dear Caroley,

I am so sorry to hear what happened. Are you able to talk to the manager of the facility? Or call the state about this facility? Maybe talk to Adult Protective Services and see what your options are.

Does another relative have POA for your sister ?
