It was the only place available at the time. First off is that his 20/21 day at the NH if Medicaid is approved the 167.50 per day will be covered, but if for some reason he is denied we are responsible. Secondly, this Monday I found a nursing home closer to the family and it’s in his provider network a)short term rehabilitation bed b) closer to family and overall a 100% better since there are a couple of beds available in this network provider. She asked me to have Delavan to fax over a referral per my conversation with Melissa at the Delavan NH she will fax it right over. Well I called cedar Crest NH to see if they received anything. “No.” So I called Delavan back left a message, nothing. I called Melissa, the social worker, Delavan Tuesday again asking the status of that referral. No returned call again. Thursday called again and she said the same thing but she has to get signatures. Okay but why tell me you are doing something when you are not and I was keeping Cedar Crest updated with everything so Friday, February 2 I called cedar Crest and they informed me there was no longer a bed available. After checking other in network providers, today I located two homes that have availability for the 8,9 so I told Melissa at Delavan I need the referral sent to rock haven attention Mary and also to Lori at Clinton rehabilitation center. I am not happy at all we lost a bed at Cedar Crest that could continue working on his physical and speech therapy so now I was back on the phone trying to find a provider that’s part of Dean and they had beds available granted this is a Friday afternoon so I call Melissa asking her if she could also fax the referral to the Clinton rehabilitation center. She said that there is a bed or two available there. But we need her to be on top of this. My biggest question is I feel my father in law lost out on care that could have been given close to his family and friends, also the added stress for the family financially if my father in law could have been settled in a NH that he would be available to continue his rehabilitation program and not how are we going to pay for this.
Thank you for your time and consideration I want to wish you caregivers peace try to take it easy. It just doesn’t seem like this country really cares about politics

Getting the paperwork sent is always a major PIA.
I would also get your father’s in network customer service reps involved with assistance to place him as those reps are required to at least give you the names of in network providers for SNF/rehab. Your dad have a Medicare Advantage Plan? Use the plan’s customer service dept to help you.
Good luck!
