How can I get a house grant?

I am a stroke survivor and was buying my own home. I got sick and got behind in my mortgage payments however since I had my stroke. I learned my house is under water but my mortgage payment is cheaper than renting. I need financial assistance to make my house safe and functionable as a retired Stroke survivor.
