Do adult children of nursing home patients have the right to take the patient out without permission by the spouse of the patient?

Both doctors and nurses have said it’s find for him to get out, and my sister even bought a lift van so our dad can be transported easily in his wheelchair. He loves going out to pizza or spending a couple hours at my sister’s house. Our mother doesn’t want him going anywhere. Do we need her permission, or do we have the right to take him out?

Why doesn't mom want him going out? Does it create agitation that she has to deal with? Is she also invited on these outings? Is she a jealous person? I ask because if she has POA she could potentially stop you taking him. I was told that as POA I can say who has access to my dad, unless someone was putting him in danger I would not stop anyone. The more interaction he has the easier it is on me. My mom on the other hand is a jealous control freak who would not want her husband to have something she didn't, even if it benefited both of them. Can you let us know some info on that?
