How much does it cost for care? My primary need is a care giver to take my laundry to the laundry room and wash and dry my clothing.

I agree with the suggestion to ask in your complex. My former mil pays a neighbour teen to do her vacuuming. It works well for both of them.

Regarding getting a Scout to caregive an individual to acquire a Scouting badge, I can’t say for Girl Scouts, but for Boy Scouts (Wood Badge parent volunteer for years) the required guidelines for safe scouting is that any 1-on-1 activity between a scout and an adult is NOT allowed. Whether it is working towards belt loops for cubs or badges for boys or camping, etc., anything 1on1 is NOT allowed. For cubs and Webelos, it’s 2 deep adult leadership always at a minimum. For Boy Scouts & Order of Arrow, the boys or boys/girls for Venturing Scouts really are self directed by that point in scouting so not always 2 deep adult leaders but buddy or trio system for activities. Activities are done within their patrol or troop or district. Eagle is an individual project within the troop & has a community based partner. I imagine GSA has similar guidelines..... All I remember about Girl Scouts other than freezing thin mints was the bomb & green is not my color was we got to wear kitten heels and a jaunty beret in cadette’s. And my mom thought I was too young for heels..... that was it for Girl Scouts! 

Raz, the suggestions already posted are good, and probably would be cheaper than hiring someone from a caregiving/private duty agency. At the hourly rate, it would almost be equivalent to have the laundry picked up and done by a commercial laundrymat, but from what I've seen, the staff in some of the laundrymats aren't particularly careful. I've seen sheets dragging on the floor while a staffer is folding them.

Another thought is to try to locate a Girl Scout troup and see if anyone working on a badge related to home care might be willing to help. Some churches also sponsor Girl Scout troops, so that might be an option as well

Another thought, do any of the other residents have grand children that might be willing to earn some walking around money? If you can't do the work could you supervise the work?

I think Cwillie's idea is great. Also, if the apartment complex is large enough, you'd think there would be likely to be a few enterprising teens or a bit younger who would like to earn a bit of pocket money. I know I was always scrounging for cash as a youngster. Also, maybe there is already another caregiver or housecleaner working in your building who would like to add you on to his or her routine?

If you live in an apartment complex you could ask if you could post your request in the laundry room or bulletin board (if you have one). Someone else who is doing their own laundry might be willing to do yours at the same time for just a small honorarium.
