I'm not sure where to answer Countrymouse, I guess here will work. My brother is 55, left handed but cannot use his left hand or arm, he has nephropathy in the right and can't sign his name. He is bedridden and a lift is used to get him out of bed, so me taking him to see a lawyer or banker is out. He gets dialysis 2X a week and has to be transported there and to any medical appointments. The NH recognizes any witnessed mark he makes, I'm pretty sure they use a notary.

If he has no Dementia/ALZ then get him to a Lawyer. The lawyer can make up both Financial and Medical. A witness will sign off besides ur brother. You can check with your state what legal process they go by.

Sight loss does not prevent people from exercising their full legal rights, including appointing others to act for them. I'm sure any organisation championing sight loss would be able to advise you on how best to handle this and other kinds of personal admin.

I'm assuming that your brother's other disabilities do not affect his mental health?
